How can the school’s multidisciplinary nature be communicated through lines & shapes?
PROCESS
Experimenting with form, line weight, and color to capture ideas. In the Jewelry/Metalworks icon, early versions exaggerated the pliers and placed them separately from the necklace, but feedback pushed me toward showing the act of making itself, with the tool and material in active contact.
ICON SYSTEM
The Art & Design building at the University of Michigan lacks effective wayfinding and directional systems, making it difficult for students, faculty, and visitors to navigate the space. Users struggle to locate specific studios, student services, and facilities, leading to confusion, lateness, and underutilization of available resources. This proposal addresses these challenges through an icon system and signage to create a more accessible and cohesive navigation experience.
